Poll Hub

Legitimate Political Discourse and the RNC

Episode Summary

When the Chair of the Republican National Committee called January 6th "legitimate political discourse," some prominent Republicans hit back... and Democrats were thrilled. But do most Republican voters agree? Then on to... 2024? Is polling hypothetical match-ups for 2024 anything more than political entertainment? And, a double header February weekend. The Super Bowl and Valentine's Day. But, what is America more excited for?

Episode Notes

Last week, RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel said what happened at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th was "legitimate political discourse." The highest-ranking elected Republican in America, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was having none of it -- saying plainly it was an "insurrection." But is the RNC closer to the views of most Republican voters? And could it help stem the erosion of support for Democrats among suburban women?

It seems that, with each week, there's a new poll pitting hypothetical 2024 Presidential candidates. Sure, it's fun to speculate but do polls this far out have any value at all? Barbara suggests they do -- if they're reported correctly.

Finally, the only-in-February Fun Fact pits the Super Bowl against Valentine's Day. What fun!
